What DR tells you, and what it doesn't
DR is the quickest way to compare the link strength of a list of sites: the outlets you are considering for a campaign, your competitors or the sites that already link to you.
But it measures links, not readers. That is why the checker adds the organic traffic in the market you pick, and marks the sites that sell posts on Growwer, where you can see the price before you buy.

What Domain Rating is, where the data comes from and how to read it.
- Domain Rating is Ahrefs' score of how strong a site's backlink profile is, from 0 to 100. The scale is logarithmic: going from 70 to 80 takes far more links than going from 20 to 30.
- No. DR is Ahrefs' metric and DA is Moz's. Both score a backlink profile from 0 to 100 with their own link index, so the same site gets different numbers. This checker shows DR. Our guide explains how to increase domain authority.
- Up to 50, one per line or separated by commas. You can paste full URLs: each one counts as its root domain, because DR is measured per domain.
- It depends on your niche and on your own site. As a rule, look for outlets with a higher DR than yours and real organic traffic in your market. DR measures links, not readers: a site with DR 60 and no visits from Google is usually selling links, and Google knows it.
- Domain Rating comes from Ahrefs' free DR API, so it matches what you see in Ahrefs. Referring domains and organic traffic come from DataForSEO, which uses its own link index, so its referring domain count won't match Ahrefs' exactly.
